What makes Tango different
How Tango lets a creator package a strategy that spans many assets and trading venues into one vault, and how that differs from vaults elsewhere.
Tango is a marketplace for tokenized trading strategies. A creator can put a whole strategy, spread across several assets and trading venues, into one vault that anyone can deposit into. Vaults elsewhere are usually built around one kind of trade, like lending a single asset, or looping it by borrowing against a deposit and depositing again to multiply the same yield.
- A single Tango strategy can trade tokens and tokenized stocks, lend on Morpho, provide liquidity on Uniswap and trade perps on Hyperliquid, and backers hold all of it through one share token.
- Each part of a strategy runs in its own sub-account, with its own assets, limits and way of measuring value, so one activity can't reach into another's money.
- In many vaults, the manager simply reports what the vault is worth. Tango prices everything it can from onchain data. It only uses a reported figure for venues a contract can't see, like a perps exchange account, and that figure has to stay within strict limits.
- Running a vault today usually means jumping between a separate dapp for each protocol, several wallets, and a vault platform to hold it all together. Tango puts all of that in one app. A creator can swap, lend, provide liquidity, trade perps, move cash and settle deposits and withdrawals from one place, without writing any contracts. That lowers the cost and effort of running a strategy, so creators can spend their time on the strategy, on managing it well and on their backers, instead of on operations.
- Many vaults let the manager send almost any transaction from the vault. A Tango vault can only use the assets, venues and actions it was set up with, and every swap, loan and liquidity change in its onchain account is checked against oracle prices.
- Creators can lock their own money in their strategy for a set time, and backers can see how much is locked and when it unlocks.
- The Tango team is building AI help into the app, to support creators as they shape a strategy and as they carry it out.
What this looks like in practice
A creator can buy a Mag7 stock such as NVDA as a tokenized stock, and short the same amount of its perp on Hyperliquid. The two positions cancel out each other's price moves, so what's left is the perp's funding rate: the strategy collects funding while it's positive and pays it if it turns negative. As funding rates shift, the creator can rotate between the Mag7 stocks they picked when setting up the strategy, and keep any cash they aren't using earning interest on Morpho.
A creator can provide WETH/USDC liquidity on Uniswap to earn trading fees, and short ETH on Hyperliquid to cancel out the ETH price exposure that comes with the pool. A liquidity position holds more ETH as the price falls and less as it rises, so the creator resizes the short as the price moves to keep the hedge in line.
In each case, the creator chooses the assets and venues when they set up the strategy, and those choices are fixed from then on. Backers can see exactly what the strategy is allowed to hold before they deposit.
