# Fixed configuration

> Why the Tango app fixes a strategy's assets, venues, pools, perp markets and sub-accounts at deployment, and what creators can still change later.

Source: https://docs.tango.fun/app/fixed-configuration

When a creator deploys a strategy in the Tango app, its assets, venues and markets are set for good. The app gives the creator no way to add to them later. So as a backer, you can see what a strategy is able to hold and where it can trade. The app will not add to that list.

> **Key points**
>
> - Once a strategy is deployed, the app does not let its creator add assets, lending venues, pools, perp markets or sub-accounts.
> - Backers can review a strategy knowing what it is able to hold and where it can trade, for its whole life.
> - The name, description, artwork, target allocation and agent connections can still change. None of them move money.

## What is fixed?

| Fixed at deployment | Enforced by |
| --- | --- |
| Network and deposit asset (USDC) | The contracts |
| Registered assets: tokens, tokenized stocks, lending venues, pool positions | The app (the contracts allow additions behind a 14-day timelock) |
| Installed liquidity pools | The app |
| Perp markets | Tango's co-signature on every Hyperliquid action |
| Number of sub-accounts: one, or two for perps | The contracts (maximum fixed at deployment) and the app |
| Fee maximums | The contracts |
| Slippage and lending ceilings | The contracts |

The app does not remove assets from release 0.12.0 strategies either. The asset list stays exactly as it was deployed.

## Why fix the configuration?

The contracts do allow changes after deployment. A vault's admin can add assets, modules, sub-accounts and approved transaction types (call shapes). Each of these changes must wait behind a 14-day [timelock](https://docs.tango.fun/vaults/timelocks.md), a delay during which the change is public before it can take effect.

The app never offers these timelocked actions. Every strategy keeps the configuration it was deployed with. This has three effects:

- A backer who reads a strategy's assets and markets today knows the app will not add to that list.
- Any change made outside the app is a public timelocked operation that backers can see coming.
- Tango's defaults can improve for new strategies without changing existing ones.

If a creator wants a different set of assets or markets, they create a new strategy.

## Perp markets

The creator chooses perp markets when creating the strategy. A market that was not chosen, or that Hyperliquid later delists, can only be closed. It can never be opened.

The vault contracts do not know about markets, so this limit is enforced offchain. Every Hyperliquid action needs Tango's co-signature, and Tango refuses actions outside the chosen markets. See [Hyperliquid trading wallets](https://docs.tango.fun/app/venues/hyperliquid-wallets.md).

## What can still change?

| Change | Does it move money? |
| --- | --- |
| Name, description and artwork | No |
| Target allocation percentages | No. They are a guide and never trade. |
| Connected agents and their permissions | Not by itself. Agents act within the strategy's limits. |
| Stop funding, close the strategy, or stop fees when closing | No new risk. These can only reduce. |
| Locking more of the creator's own shares | It moves the creator's own shares into the locker. |

## What about changes outside the app?

The creator's wallet holds the vault's top admin role. The contracts would let it schedule a timelocked change directly, without the app. Any such change is public onchain while it waits. For High and Critical changes, backers have at least 7 days, which is longer than the 3-day wait for a forced exit (a backer settling their own overdue withdrawal). See [Exit before governance](https://docs.tango.fun/vaults/timelocks.md#exit-before-governance).
